This is part 2 of my Viome series. In this post, I will share the results of my husband’s Viome Food Sensitivity Test, also known as the Gut Intelligence Test’s Nutrition Results. I will walk through his Viome Results and our Viome Review so you can determine if it is right for you.
If you would like to more about Viome, what Viome tests for, and Viome’s test collection steps, refer to my post: Viome’s Gut Microbiome Test: What is Viome?
Viome Review: Why did we choose Viome’s Food Sensitivity Test
I was listening to one of Dave Asprey’s podcasts on BulletProof Radio and also read one of his blog post’s: 17 Proven Ways to Heal Your Gut Microbiome, and learned that the microbiome could possibly help my husband with issues that he continues to have.
My husband had Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma back in 2013 and received multiple rounds of high-dose chemotherapy treatments. Despite eating a clean, real food diet and dialing it back even further to a Paleo AIP diet over the following five years, my husband continued to experience recurring issues. One of the questions that we have struggled with was: Why do I always feel sick after eating?
In order to help us attempt to identify what could be causing the problems he felt after eating, we decided to have him take the Viome Food Sensitivity Test.

In short, Viome will help you determine the food that will help you feel better and which ones make you feel bad. More specifically, Viome is a very sophisticated, at-home gut microbiome test that will provide you with customized results about your own unique microbiome.

What to Expect from the Gut Intelligence Test
My husband took the Viome Test: Gut Intelligence Test. Below is an example of the type of information that you could expect from Viome if you take the Gut Intelligence Test. You can access your results on your computer or in an app on your phone. I find that the phone app is extremely helpful, especially when you go grocery shopping for clean, real foods, as I do weekly.
Viome Results Screenshots of Food Sensitivity Sections
This is a screenshot of the “Nutrition” results section within the Viome app. It categorizes your food list into Avoid, Minimize and Superfoods.

Viome Results: Your Foods
Once you select one of the icons above, Viome allows you to further filter your results. You’ll have Categories: Vegetables, Proteins/Fats, Fruits/Grains, Herbs/Spices/Other. Here, you will be able to see the foods that you should avoid and foods that you should minimize. And jus as important: Foods that you should eat MORE often because they are your “SUPERFOOD.”

Viome Review of his Foods to Avoid
Below is an example of my husband’s Avoid List: Almonds, Bell Peppers, Eggplants, etc. Do you feel like we did when we first saw his results? What? No more almonds or keto cookies/muffins made from almond flour? No more dishes cooked with bell peppers? Ugh, but Viome gives you insight into why. This information is so extremely valuable. Having this information handy is worth the price of the test, especially for those who are trying to overcome challenges.

Viome Review: Explanation of Why you Should Avoid This Food
Here’s what Viome says is the reason why my husband should avoid almond. As you can see, the reason is tailored to his specific needs which is pretty cool. They provide insights into each food category – Avoid, Minimize and Superfoods. Again, extremely helpful information!

Viome Food Sensitivity: Vegetables to Avoid
Here’s an example of his “Vegetables to Avoid or Minimize.” Needing to avoid potatoes was a shocker to us to say the least. For a family that LOVES homemade fries and boiled potatoes, this one stung. But, maybe it was contributing to some of his symptoms…and sweet potatoes are still in the Minimize sections, so there some relief to our comfort foods.

Viome Results: Fruits/Grains to Avoid
And his “Fruits & Grains to Minimize”. He didn’t have anything listed under “Avoid” in this category, only Minimize.

Viome Results: My Herbs, Spices and Other Ingredients to Avoid
The “Herbs, Spices & Other ingredients to Avoid or Minimize” results:

Viome Test Results: My SUPERFOODS!
Now for some really interesting information in your Viome Food Sensitivity Test Nutrition results, Your SuperFoods! Thankfully, the foods listed for my husband were well-rounded and include dairy, proteins, fruit and herbs/spices.

Lastly, I found that the Search bar in the Nutrition section is extremely helpful. Before you eat something or while meal planning, you can quickly search for the food items.
And as you can see in the screenshot below, our Bulletproof Coffee is still approved! I hope that it is for you, as well.

Food is not the only information that you will receive in the Gut Intelligence Test. You’ll learn about what’s in your gut and how your gut is doing. Those results will be in the next post in this series.

Viome Review
So far, we are pleased with the information that we’ve received from Viome. I use it often when shopping to remind me what types of flour, nuts, fruits, etc. And of course, I use the Viome app to tell me what foods to avoid. These results were done one year ago and we just ordered a retest. We are excited to see how making changes have improved his gut health. But the best part is, when you order a retest, Viome gives you a HUGE discount. Therefore, I upgraded the test to the Viome Health Intelligence Test. Stay tuned for another round of results.
Until next time, Keep it Real!
